Getting the most out of your training.

How we Create Value by remaining Independent.

We know that cost and value is an increasingly important consideration for our clients in recent years.

Thats why I have always worked to make it as easy and affordable as possible to get quality behaviour support. From when The Dog’s Way started as an independent business in 2018, I have always tried to create the services that I would want with my own dogs, and to try and make things as fair and accessible for everyone.

I have always had a couple of key goals. That we focus on making the biggest positive change for every dog in the minimum number of sessions. That we give as much time as we need to the dogs that need it most, without it costing significantly more for their owners. And that we offer a higher quality of service, at a significantly lower price than the ‘officially accredited’ ABTC/CCAB Behaviourists - that feel it’s reasonable to charge as much as £900 for a basic package of professional support.

I ran the numbers, and In 2024, 95% of our clients got the improvements they needed in 3 sessions or less, with 98% of our clients spending less than £500 to get their issues resolved, including membership. What that means, in simple terms - is that being independent works. For us, for our clients, and most important for the dogs that we all want to help.

  • If you live in Yorkshire and want to work with us in person, you can book an onboarding call completely free. It’s an opportunity for us to get to know you, and for you to get to know us - at no charge.

  • It’s a simple idea - a write up of a session can take several hours, and in most cases will be skim read for 5 minutes, then kept in a file, stuck on the fridge or thrown in the bin. So rather than charging you £50-£100 extra as part of a package fort the time it takes us to make something you won’t use, we just don’t do them. Instead, we have 5 hours of video training content and a library of downloadable booklets that is regularly updated on our members page. We think thats a much better offer.

  • It’s a weird thing to charge people a fee to text, WhatsApp or email them when they have questions or queries, when you grew up in the 90’s and feel like you’ve lived your whole life on technology. So whether my clients want to ping me over a quick question, a video of their dogs behaviour, or anything else - it’s all just part of the service.

  • We don’t sell multi session training packages because they don’t represent value for our clients. When 49 out of 50 people we see need 3 sessions or less, we don’t see any reason to try and sell people on a block of 6. Just book the sessions you need, when you need them - with up to 33% off as a member.

  • Our sessions are structured so that you pay for your first hour of each session, but any extra time you need if you run over is free. Whether it’s because you have a particularly fearful or anxious dog, or the diagnostics takes more time than normal - we don’t want anyone to feel rushed or pressured if their dog needs a little patience. Because patience, after all, should always be free.

  • The whole reason we started our members programme was to provide session discounts for the people who needed more in depth support. If you are doing multiple sessions or need a number regular follow up calls, it’s almost always cheaper to sign up as a member. And you can choose the level that provides maximum benefit for you based on the type of work you are doing and your dogs behavioural needs.

Our members programme offers up to 33% off training sessions - and the saving is greatest for those who need more - which means everyone only pays for what they need, and the people who need the most save the most.
